In June, a youth delegation from Utah, USA, organized by Denuo International Education, carried out a 12-day cultural exchange activity in Xi'an, Chengdu, and Chongqing, China. Centered around the theme "Ancient & Modern China: A Journey of Knowledge and Action," and hosted upon the joint invitation of Xi'an Shiyou University
and the China Travel Service Group, the program built a platform for in-depth dialogue between Chinese and American youth through various forms such as cultural visits, academic exchanges, and hands-on experiences, effectively promoting cross-cultural understanding and friendship.

Xi'an: Touching the Pulse of Millennia

As a vital cradle of Chinese civilization, Xi'an presented the American students with a vivid tapestry of history and culture. At Xi'an Shiyou University, the students systematically studied practical Chinese language courses and participated in traditional culture workshops, including lacquer fan making and calligraphy. By writing Chinese characters and painting traditional patterns themselves, the American students gained a more intuitive understanding of Chinese traditional arts.

Furthermore, the cultural visits were meticulously designed. The archaeological site at the Terracotta Army Museum left everyone in awe of ancient China's craftsmanship, while the immersive experience at the Great Tang All Day Mall revived the splendor of the Tang Dynasty. A panoramic city tour on the ancient city wall skillfully connected Xi'an's historical evolution with its modern transformation.

Chengdu: Experiencing Diverse Culture
The Chengdu segment fully showcased the diversity and inclusiveness of Chinese culture. At the Chengdu Museum, the American students systematically learned about the development of Shu civilization through precious artifacts like bronze ware and ethnic costumes. A Sichuan Opera face-changing performance allowed the American teachers and students to directly appreciate the unique charm of this traditional Chinese art form. Interactive segments on stage even enabled several American students to try basic tea art techniques. This segment also provided the opportunity for a close encounter with the "legendary national treasure" – the panda! At popular social media check-in spots like Chunxi Road, Jinli Street, and People's Park, the American delegation not only experienced the trendy culture of China's new Generation Z but also got up close with the laid-back folk culture of the Sichuan-Chongqing region and world-famous Sichuan cuisine.

Educational exchange was a highlight of the Chengdu visit. At Paotongshu Primary School (Jingjie Campus), Chinese and American teachers and students participated in joint classroom activities, from reciting ancient poetry to creating traditional handicrafts, fostering understanding through collaboration. The hosts from Paotongshu Primary School prepared Sichuan Opera performances and traditional sports games for their guests from afar, allowing the American students to further their understanding of Chinese traditional opera and athletics.

Chongqing: Witnessing Developmental Achievements
The mountain city of Chongqing added a dynamic footnote of modern China to the exchange program. A visit to the General Joseph W. Stilwell Museum allowed the younger generation to reflect on the history of China and the United States fighting fascism together, reinforcing the consensus for peaceful development. An "Sino-US Youth Education Salon" was also held, initiating bilateral dialogue among young people. In a global context, this salon, with cultural exchange at its core, built a bridge of ideas across the Pacific. It served not only as a platform for knowledge sharing but also as a space for the convergence and blending of two cultural contexts.

A ride on the Yangtze River Cableway, offering a bird's-eye view of the rivers and banks, gave the American teachers and students a direct sense of Chongqing's urban development achievements. The traditional architecture of Hongya Cave and the modern commercial district around the Liberation Monument stood in stark contrast, presenting the multifaceted nature of China's urban development. Specially arranged intangible cultural heritage craft experiences allowed the American youth to deepen their understanding of Ba-Yu culture through hands-on creation.
